Yes folks, it's that time of the month again (too ambiguous?). Time for indie kids, incredible food and pretty things to flood the lovely Moses Mabida stadium, and I for one am rather excited.
If you live in Durban, come and visit.

Seriously.

94 years old. Casual.

Today, a man who has inspired millions turned a whopping 94 years old. Nelson Mandela is a hero to me and so many others for equally many reasons. He makes me so proud to be South African and although South Africa still has many problems, it shows just how far we, as a country, have actually come.

So here's to SA.
Here's to new freedoms.
And here's to you, Madiba. Happy birthday.

BOYS AT DANVILLE!

that was me. in my revolting buttercup yellow maid's dress.
Folks, today was a historic day at my school (*long breath* Danville Park Girls High School) because teenage boys were ALLOWED and ENCOURAGED onto the premises.
Now bearing in mind that my school is probably one of the strictest all-girls schools EVER, this was a big big deal.

Oh dear, the not-so-subtle reaction as British boys armed with backpacks that read "expedetion to South Africa" (HAHAHA) entered the crowded, yellow and green quad was really quite something.
Tragically, they left after a shortish while to 'expedite' to St. Lucia, but not before marvelling at wild monkeys that dominate Danville.

It was probably for the best.

Life as a Danville girl is never dull. {still laughing}

lessons learnt this holiday

Here's what I've learnt this holiday:

  • if you let one child get a piggyback, be prepared to become a human transportation device.
  • baking really is fun.
  • pack jeans when sleeping ot even though Durban pretty much stays hot in Winter.
  • eating too many sweet results in nausea/headaches/hating life in general.
  • there's no such thing as too many laughs with friends.
  • don't shower in a stranger's b'n'b room because they could very well come home.
  • keep a hair-tie permanently on your wrist to prevent wind-ravaged, now-dreadlocked hair.
  • staying in pjs all day, like a slob, is perfectly alright.
  • walking places is actually rather pleasant.
  • that I may as well just accept that all school work WILL be left to the last few days.
  • late nights and late mornings is how life was meant to be lived.

I made a cheesecake.

This was me after my very first cheesecake was a success. I may have severely added to the "women in the kitchen" jokes but hey... baking's fun!

Ring Ring. Hello?

Some incredible rings that I really do need to have... One of the reasons I both love and hate Pinterest.  TORTURE.

{any donations will be very welcome}
